What is it about?

A visual illusion you can try on yourself. Look in the mirror and cross your eyes. With some practice, you can create a reflection of yourself with 3 eyes. Stare at your "third" eye (in the middle) and find that the rest of you disappears!

Why is it important?

This is an easy way to view an illusion known to psychologists as "binocular rivalry" - the apparent disappearance of objects seen by only 1 eye. Not only that, you can see your own "third-eye" a concept that has been around in Eastern spiritual mythology for thousands of years...

Perspectives

This effect was discovered almost by accident while looking in the mirror one day. I wonder if this illusion has been discovered many times throughout history? If so, we'd never heard about it!
