What is it about?
Our study offers a new perspective on the role of macrolides in preventing acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease（COPD）from the aspects of target population, drug dose, course of treatment, advantages and disadvantages of treatment scheme, etc.

Why is it important?
Our study demonstrated that long-term low dose usage of macrolides in stable period can effectively prevent acute exacerbations of COPD,but it was not suitable for the elderly.We recommend that this treatment regimen could used in patients with GOLD grading C or D group.
